An attack based on the application of speed and momentum to deal damage. | |
Description
Velocity attacks represent a character using an application of speed and momentum to inflict damage onto others. Accuracy still governs chance-to-hit. A Velocity attack rolls much like a Melee attack, but using the character's Velocity Stat instead of their Strength to determine damage output. Velocity attacks are single-target only.
For example, Ramjet, a Decepticon seeker, is really into ramming people. Hasbro had a really hard time figuring out what to call him. So he flies around, picking up speed, and when he breaks the sound barrier, he plows right into somebody. His speed and momentum are what creates the force behind the punishment that Ramjet doles out, not the explosiveness of his missiles or the strength he exerts behind a punch.
Velocity attacks are generally reserved for characters that can travel at break-neck speeds, though it is not unheard of for a 'slow' character to bust out a Velocity attack - just be aware that it won't do very much damage because there is nothing behind the attack, persay.
