Drain is an Effect
Effect Drain
Name Drain
Status Available
Cost (CP) 3
Rare No

Attack will deplete your target's energon.

Description

Having Drain on an attack will cause the target to lose 10 Energon. Pretty simple! This is independant of attack level or actual damage dealt, and works on even lvl 0 attacks. This does not give the user any Energon, it does not drain the energon into the attacker, just out of the target.

Drain is often paired with Feed, which when combined acts like the legacy drain; A successful hit of a Drain/Feed would cause the target to lose 10 and you to gain 10. A Drain without Feed is also possible, and could be used on attacks that pierce fuel lines, lower energy levels, or force the target to burn power.

Strategy

Energon is pretty important if you like using big attacks and costly effects, and removing your opponent's Energon means they are less able to fry you with that dangerous Overpowered Disintegrate weapon. If the other guy has a Big Gun, you can make him lose the power to effectively use it against you. They can still !pass to regain lost fuel, but that's one less turn they are shooting at you with anything other than a global. It also takes a chunk out of a Forcefield user's ability to keep thier shield up.

It is less useful and/or entirely useless against someone with an Ammo attack, or lots of ammo attacks, because they can still kick butt without needing Energon... as long as they still have ammo left to use. Characters with ammunition have less energon to start with than other people, so using Drain on them can quickly force them to rely entirely on ammo and globals. Some characters have so much ammunition that this is not likely to ever be a problem.
